Spoimy Mobile

This is the "Spoimy Mobile"! Donít ask, I didnít! But when Jim sent me info on his Charade thatís what he referred to it as. As with many Charades, Jimsí Charade is not overly modified. The beauty of the Charade (as we all know) is that it doesnít take much to make it look better. A nice set of wheels, tint the windows and there ya have it. After picking

up his new toy, Jim decided that the Charades handling left a little to be desired, so the first additions in the modification stakes where front and rear sway bars, 22mm on the front and 18mm at the rear. Everyone knows that most cars look like mini-4wdís when they come out of the factory. And the Charade is no exception. So along with the sway bars, a set of lowered springs where installed. The car now sits 2" lower at the front and 1.5" lower in the arse end. This not only helps the cars handling but most importantly, it adds to the cars visual appeal. All of this rolls along on a set of 14" 5th Gear Trispokes. These were added as soon as Jim realised that his newly modified Charade didnít look so cool with black painted stock rims. If you look at the photos, we are sure youíll agree that the Trispokes are far superior to the
stock rims. With the majority of the body roll sorted out, Jim handed over his hard-earned cash and equipped the Charade with a couple of extra Ponies. A Uni-Filter Rampod, extractors, 2" exhaust and 3" chrome tailpiece help to make the car sound better, and most importantly, go quicker. With all this extra horsepower, you need to ensure that you have the ability to handle it. Stick in an Autometer Monster
Tacho with shiftlight, carbon-fibre gearlever with leather gearstick boot and tint the windows 35% and you have the necessary additions to improve your driving capabilities. Now Jim, being the fine upstanding citizen that he is, understands the value of a loud stereo. Not only does it keep the family members out of your car, but it also disturbs and frightens many members of the community. Thatís right folks. According to one of the current magazines devoted to 4 cylinder vehicles, a government department has found that loud stereos in cars scare other people. Imagine how terrified theyíll be when the hear Jim coming. A Kenwood single cd head unit, 2 Kicker Impulse amps, 6.5" Kicker Impulse splits, 12" Kicker Impulse subwoofer in a sealed enclosure and Kenwood HQ 6x9s all make for a terrifying experience. And Jim is proud to point out that all of this has been self-installed. I asked Jim if he had anything else planned. And as with all modified car owners, he had a list of mods that he wanted, depending on the availability of finances. A modified front grill, side skirts, small bonnet vent for the Rampod 15" chromed ROH Visions, engine management computer and a new cam are all on the wish list. The Trispokes you see in the photos are now up for sale for $200. One set of tyres have about 50% tread and the other two are almost completely bald. The reason for the bald tyres is apparent when Jim flashes the burnout infringement notice for $350 in your face. All of this is thanks to the Local Lidcombe police. According to Jim he was merely coming out of the driveway after work on a Thursday night and a small amount of smoke appeared out of nowhere. They were going to confiscate the car, but he talked his way out of it).
